A new study shows giving newborns small amounts of formula if they're not
gaining weight in the first days of life could actually help their mothers
The study in the journal Pediatrics looked at 40 babies and
found after three months, 79 percent of babies who got limited formula in the first
days of life were still breastfeeding.
The American Academy of Pediatrics currently recommends that healthy mothers
breast feed exclusively for the first six months.
