Demolition sends cloud of dust into area

Demolition at a building in Elizabethton sent dust flying in all directions.

No one was hurt from the cloud of dust, but it did spread out and settled on a few nearby businesses.

We spoke with the man who captured the video and discovered that a solution is in place to make sure a cloud like that doesn't happen again.

"I was wondering how they were going to tear down this building," said Alex Rocker, "..what looked like there may be a bigger impact after this...so I took out my video camera"

A massive machine is named the dust destroyer will help to mitigate the dust.

"To help control the dust we brought in this massive machine," said Tommy Read, Project Safety Manager, "this type of technology helps to control the dust and make it safer for everybody in the area."

The machine was brought in shortly after the dust cloud erupted yesterday.

Crews hauled it all the way from South Carolina.

We're told it will remain on site until demolition is complete. Which will be in about two months.
