Batmobile is on the loose in Johnson City

Posted: Updated:

Have you spotted it around town? In this edition of Cable Country, Matt Dollar shows off his authentic replica of the original 1966 Batmobile car.

From Gotham City to Johnson City..Matt Dollar is at the wheel of an original batmobile that you've probably seen tooling around town.

"1966 George Barris got the job to build the original batmobile", Dollar said. "There was six stunt cars built off that car and then five other duplicates and this is the last one. It's out of the original mold and pulled off of the number one batmobile. This car is true to the number one Batmobile a hundred percent. This car has got all the features of the original car. It's got the beacon light, it's got the bat phone"

It's got the seat ejector button, flame thrower, parachutes, bat turn lever and Batman logos on the wheels and doors, too. Fitting because Dollar's been a Batman buff since he was five.

"It's just a childhood dream to be Batman", he said.

Matt dresses the part and performs at parties and events. Catching a glimpse of the caped crusader in his suped up super hero set of wheels drives fans batty.

"If we're going down the interstate and ten people pass us, nine of them will be taking a picture", Dollar said proudly. "I mean it's the most famous car in the world"

So does he ever get the urge to do a little crime fighting when he's out batmobiling?

"I do I'm on the lookout right now for the Joker", Dollar laughed. "So Joker, if you're watching, watch out. We're also on the lookout for the Riddler. So, today, me and Mr. Cable are gonna take a ride in the batmobile and fight some crime"

Yes, crime doesn't pay. But a lot of would be buyers would like to. Matt's been offered big bucks for his batmobile. But he says for now it'll stay in his personal collection. He plans on having the batmobile same bat time.

"Same bat channel", Dollar agreed. "And that's WJHL TV 11"
