Brilla Shut Out in Home Opener

Posted: Updated:

CLINTON - Mississippi Brilla FC welcomed the Ocala Stampede to Clinton on Friday night and due to the result of the match, Ocala might not be welcomed back anytime soon as they hammered the Brilla 4-0.

Brilla started the match with high hopes as Phillip Buffington seeing his early chance go right to the Stampede's goalkeeper. The teams traded chances for the first half hour before Ocala opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Samuel Dulninck's long pass was brought down and expertly hammered into the back of the net by Jack Bailey.

Ocala doubled their lead just ten minutes later when Robbie Tice received a floated ball from Kevin Ireland and put his header over the Brilla defense and goalkeeper Jake Files.

The first half ended before Ocala scored again, but they picked up right where they left off in the 50th minute when Bailey scored his second goal. He received a pass at midfield and outpaced the Brilla defense to drill a perfectly placed ball into the top corner of the Brilla net to take the lead to 3-0.

Kenneth Hogg finished the scoring in the 88th minute when Kyle Breitmeyer's through ball found him behind the Brilla backline. Hogg slotted his shot by Files to make the score 4-0.

Ocala travels to Panama City Beach for a Sunday night match up while Brilla will lick their wounds and try to bounce back against the VSI Tampa Flames. The Mississippi match will kick off Sunday night at 7:00 at Clinton High School.
