Ocean Springs aldermen say they'd like to meet with school officials to discuss with them the urgency in reducing school taxes.
Alderman Jerry Dalgo says the best solution to the city's financial crunch is for the school district to come down on their millage for the coming fiscal year which would in turn allow the city to raise millage without an overall impact on city taxpayers.
Dalgo says the school district has on many occasions ended the school year with millions of dollars that went unspent and were put into bank accounts.
The Mississippi Press reports Mayor Connie Moran said she would contact Ocean Springs superintendent Bonita Coleman-Potter to arrange such a meeting.
