Some Hinds county homeowners want a dangerous road in their neighborhood repaired, before it grows into a sinkhole.
The problem road is Midway Estates Drive, inside Midway Estates subdivision, south of
Terry. One side of the street that runs over a culvert has been sinking for years.
One longtime resident tells us his complaints to county leaders have gone unanswered.
Once we started investigating, we found out that the road is considered private property, so there's not much the county can do to fix it.
According to the county road manager, the subdivision developers failed to bring the roads inside it up to standard. That's why the county never took over maintenance and upkeep.
There's also a dispute about bonds the developer was supposed to set aside to make sure the roads would be brought to standard.
The county attorney is now investigating what happened.
