PEARL - Game three of the series between the Mississippi Braves and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos was suspended due to inclement weather Sunday evening. Play is set to resume at 5:30 PM Monday. Gates open at 5:00 PM. Monday night's regularly scheduled game will follow the completion of Sunday's game.
With Pensacola leading 4-0, the M-Braves and Blue Wahoos will resume play in the bottom of the fourth. After completing the nine-inning game, the two teams will square off in game four of the series. Monday's regularly scheduled contest will start approximately 30 minutes after Sunday's game and will go seven innings.
The Blue Wahoos jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Corey Wimberly singled and stole second. He took third on an errant throw by the catcher. Travis Mattair followed with a walk before Ray Chang launched a three-run home run to left field.
Brodie Greene singled and moved to second on a Daniel Renken sacrifice bunt. Bryson Smith followed with a single to left, placing runners at the corners with one out. Wimberly then delivered a RBI-single to right field, making it a 4-0 game before the storms rolled in and stopped play for an hour and 32 minutes.
Play resumed in the top of the second and the two teams played through the top of the fourth before more storms arrived at Trustmark Park, forcing the game's suspension.
Fans with tickets for Sunday's game may exchange them for tickets to either of the final two games in this homestand. The final game of the current homestand is scheduled for 7:00 PM Tuesday. In Monday's regularly scheduled game, Braves right-hander Gus Schlosser (5-2, 2.74) counters Pensacola righty Shaun Ellis (1-1, 4.87 ).
