Hinds Community College is hosting a Military Appreciation Day to honor members of the Armed Forces and their families on July 31, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Muse Center on the Rankin Campus in Pearl.
Hinds is inviting all service members, whether they are inactive, retired or still serving, along with their families.
“We’re planning lots of activities for family fun, plus free popcorn, snow cones and other treats,” said Kathryn Cole, director of Enrollment Services.
A number of military support groups will be on hand, including the Mississppi National Guard Joint Force Headquarters, the Veterans Administration Vet Center, the American Legion, the Marine Corps League, Vietnam Veterans of America and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Additionally, Hinds employees, including counselors and financial aid advisers, will be on hand to offer information about their education benefits and using them at Hinds, Cole said.
“As our service members return home and seek out new opportunities, Hinds Community College is ready to help them with their education plans and enrollment in classes,” Cole said.
