Roanoke City brush crews working overtime after storm

ROANOKE, VA -

Roanoke City brush crews are working overtime to clean-up.

Today crews were in the southwest part of the city picking up storm debris and trash they couldn't pick up yesterday.

We're told they will work Monday through Saturday until further notice.

They ask you to put storm debris on the curb as soon as possible. Brush in the alley won't be picked up.

"Be patient with us. we have suspended bulk collection for next week so we can concentrate all of our efforts and resources on collecting vegetative debris from the storm, " said Billy Basham with Roanoke City Solid Waste Management.

After last year's wind storm--- they collected more than 2,800 tons of debris. Basham says it took more than a month to get it under control.

Right now, they are still working to determine how long it will take to get everything picked up as crews survey damage.
