Communities commemorated the end of slavery with Juneteenth celebrations around the country and right here in the Star City.
Around five thousand people attended the 8th annual Southern Christian Leadership Conference event at Washington Park.
People spent the day enjoying the nice weather, music, games and free food donated by several businesses.
The event organizer says the event continues to grow and more people come out.
"The first year everyone thought this was a black event, but if you look around a whole lot of folks from a whole lot of different cultures are around and it's just a wonderful thing. I mean it's the community coming together," said Jeff Artis, the event organizer.
