Bulldog fans are feeling really good about Monday night. The Mississippi State University Baseball Team is advancing in the College World Series and supporters - watching from Capitol Grill in Jackson - were cheering through the final inning.
"You look at Hunter Renfroe," fan Cy Parks said while watching the sports bar's screens. "The guy got drafted in the first round of baseball. The next night he was catching possums by a gas station in Starkville. How can you not like a kid like that?"
Another fan, wearing his late father's MSU hat, was also watching intently when the team was behind during the early part of the game.
"I mean, my whole family went to Mississippi State and we were always baseball fans so being back in the college World Series not just for the school but for the state of Mississippi," Ryan Montgomery said.
India Gammill is an operating partner at Capitol Grill. She says the game is a huge boost to business.
"Even on our menu, every SEC team has a menu item," Gammill said.
"Our 'Hail State Dog' is a quarter pound of country pleasing sausage that we serve on a bun. It's fantastic," Gammill said.
And many fans said no matter the outcome of the game they were just happy to be supporting the team.
"We love our baseball. We love football. I'll follow golf if I have to. As long as it's Mississippi State I'll watch it," Parks said.
