An inmate dies inside the Hinds County Detention Center, and deputies believe another inmate is to blame.
Saturday morning, a detention officer discovered an inmate lying on the floor unresponsive. The officer attempted CPR and notified medical staff, but the inmate had died.
A preliminary investigation reveals two inmates, housed in the same unit, got into a fight. One man died.
The suspect is 50-year-old Elton McLaurin. He's been housed at the Detention Center since June, 2011 for burglary of a business.
McLaurin could be charged with homicide.
The victim's name has been released, and has been identified as Larry McLaurin, age 56.
