A special election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 to fill two seats on the Hinds County Board of Supervisors. The District Two seat was vacated when long-time member Doug Anderson passed away due to medical complications on April 13th of this year. District Four Supervisor Phil Fisher will resign as Hinds County Supervisor effective midnight June 30th to assume the duties of mayor of the City of Clinton following his recent election to office. To ensure Districts Two and Four are properly represented until the special election is held, the Hinds County Board of Supervisors has begun advertising to fill those two vacancies on its board with interim board members and is actively accepting resume´s.
The Hinds County Board of Supervisors is accepting resume´s from individuals who are interested in filling the positions of Hinds County Supervisor Districts Two and Four. Interim appointees will assume the duties of Districts Two and Four Supervisors pending a special election to be held on November 5, 2013 when a successor will be voted into both seats. Candidates who agree to accept the responsibilities of the District 2 and 4 Supervisors positions should also agree to not run for the seats in the November special election.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and a resident within and a qualified voter of the district they represent. More information on the role of the Board of Supervisors position can be found in the Mississippi Code of 1972 Annotated in Chapter 3 of Title 19.
Interested interim board member candidates may submit a letter of interest, current resume´ and copy of current voter registration card.
Information must be submitted to the County Administrator’s Office, 316 South President Street, Jackson, MS 39205 for duplication and distribution to the Board of Supervisors.
Also, anyone who is interested in running for either seat in the November special election must qualify and register with the Circuit Clerk’s office no later than the Friday, September 6, 2013 deadline.
