JOHNSON COUNTY, TN (WJHL-TV) -

The two men who led police on a high speed chase, ending with a shootout with officers, appeared in a Johnson County courtroom Wednesday morning.

Richard Mabe and Timothy Greer both face four charges of attempted first degree murder of a police officer. Mabe also faces two counts of attempted second degree murder in the shootings of Jackie Harless and Michael Laird at their home on Divide Road earlier this month.

Mabe was placed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Most Wanted list for that crime, and a manhunt ensued. Three days later, law enforcement got a tip that Mabe was in the passenger seat of a car at the McDonald's in Mountain City.

A chase ensued, and officers rammed that car, which Greer and Mabe had stolen, into a ditch.

Sheriff Mike Reese says Mabe fired several rounds at officers, before being taken into custody.

In court Wednesday, Cameron Hyder was assigned to be Mabe's attorney, while Greer was assigned a public defender.

Mabe's total bond was set at $935,000, while Greer's totaled $770,000.

Both men are due back in court for a preliminary hearing July 31 at 1:30 p.m.
