JONESBOROUGH, TN (WJHL) -

A former caretaker caught on tape abusing a mentally challenged young adult took a plea deal Thursday afternoon.

Tim Hudgins went on trial this week for willful abuse of an adult.

According to Assistant District Attorney Dennis Brooks, Hudgins decided to enter a best interest guilty plea to assault, instead of allowing the case to go to a jury.

Brooks says Hudgins received probation, and will be placed on Tennessee abuser registry that will prevent him from working in the healthcare industry again.
