2,000 customers of the Fisher Ferry Water District will see brown water coming out of their faucets for the next few weeks.
Officials blame it on failed generators. General Manager Cheryl Van Norman says water somehow got into the generators. The generators help remove color from the water. She says the problem happened about a week ago.
Crews are going to Oklahoma to get parts, and more parts are being shipped from France. Van Norman says it will take $100,000 to fix the problems. Bills will not increase to help offset the costs.
She says the water is safe to drink. Officials at the State Department of Health also say the water is safe to drink.
