The International Gumbo Festival will return to downtown Jackson in September, with a roster of bands celebrating regional culture from New Orleans through the Mississippi hill country at Smith Park.
Event and music promoters Bill Bissell and Arden Barnett are reviving the once annual festival after a decade-long absence.
Cooking team entry fees will benefit the Harold T. and Hal White Memorial Fund at Hinds Community College.
Bissell tells The Clarion-Ledger previous gumbo festivals in Jackson drew 3,500 to close to 5,000 people.
