Officials in Greene County have found the bodies of 6-year-old twin boys who fell into Chickasawhay River on Saturday.
Greene County Emergency Manager Trent Robertson said one of the boys was found late Sunday night and the other around 5:30 a.m. Monday.
The boys were identified as James and Issac McGowan. Autopsies have been ordered.
Sheriff Stanley McLeod says a family friend called 911 at 5:29 p.m. Saturday to report the children had been playing on the sandbar when they disappeared. They apparently waded off in a deep part of the river, he said.
Their bodies were recovered in an area of the river off U.S. Highway 98 in the southern part of Greene County.
