GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A mother was arrested over the weekend for allegedly driving under the influence with her kids in the car.

Saturday around 6:30 pm, a Greene County sheriff's deputy was called to check the area of Mt. Pleasant Park. A witness said she saw a green Chevy Cavalier driven by a woman who was passing out at the wheel with four children inside.

The responding officer noted in a report, as the Cavalier was heading in his direction down Knoxville Highway, the car was approaching his lane of travel. The officer said he "got off the road so it could pass". The officer then turned around and stopped the car at the intersection of Hal Henard Road.

In the driver seat was Brandy Watts and the passengers were her 4 children who, according to the report, "were very upset." The officer asked Watts to perform a field sobriety – which she failed. Watts allegedly told the officer she had taken a Suboxone.

According to the report, her children told the officer they were scared, "Mommy almost hit a house and was falling asleep while driving".

Watts was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license and four counts of reckless endangerment. The officer also wrote tickets for no insurance, no seat belt, child safety restraints and driving left of center.

The children were released to their grandparents. A bond for Watts has been set at $6,000. The car was towed from the scene at the owner's request.
