A Pair of "Watsons" Ready to Tackle the Greenbrier

Posted: Updated:

A year removed from his career changing Masters title, rising star Bubba Watson is the  latest of golf's young guns to come to experience the Greenbrier..and the Old  White TPC. Watson says he got the Greenbrier a week ago, and has played a number of rounds in addition to taking advantage of the family activities available there. He called the Old White "old style golf" which he loves, and says he didn't find and trick or gimmicky holes on the course. Meanwhile, The Club Pro Emeritus Tom Watson is also in the field. He and Bubba are separated by more than three decades if you compare Bubba's Masters victory in 2012 to Watson's second back in 1981. None the less they both had a healthy respect and admiration for the Old White. Tom Watson won eight major championships and is the current Ryder Cup captain. He named Andy North his assistant at his press conference at the Greenbrier. His analysis of the tournament--the high ball hitters in the field will have an advantage  Phil Mickelson plays the type of game that Watson describes. Lefty returns to the Greenbrier after failing to make the cut last year. He is one of 13 major champions in the field.
