Cleared: Botetourt County Route 220 tractor trailer crash

BOTETOURT COUNTY, VA -

10:34 a.m.

VDOT says a tractor trailer crash is blocking all but one lane of Route 220 near Iron Gate in northern Botetourt County.

According to Botetourt Co. Emergency Services, the road will be kept at one lane for much of the day.  The big rig is stuck on a steep embankment.

Virginia State Police and multiple clean-up crews are working to get the tractor trailer off of the embankment, according to Chief Jason Ferguson.

All traffic is being shifted into one southbound lane, and being alternated by officers.

Investigators say the crash took place around 8:00 a.m., near where Route 220 and Route 727 (Fork Farm Road).
