It was a very close call when a bullet barely missed a Jackson teenager sitting on the living room couch of her home. According to Tracey Clay, her 15 year-old daughter Darshaye was a few feet from where the round tore through the door Wednesday morning on West McDowell Road.
She was feet from the door and I was glad they were no hurt, she said.
Clay's 3 year old nephew was also in danger.
"It's really nowhere to be safe, even if you move from place to place, it's still something going on," she said.
While police search for a suspect, Clay's family is counting their blessings. At the end of the month her daughter celebrates her 16th birthday.
Investigators don't believe this shooting is connected to a similar incident last night near Jackson State University. A person on Banks Street armed with a weapon, fired and hit a man at a house on Deer Park Street.
