Posted: Updated:

According to Jackson Animal Shelter's Commander Dwayne Odom says they're currently testing Deuce's temperament to see how he reacts around people.

One local animal daycare owner tells us they test animals's by placing a bowl of food in front of the dog, see how the dog reacts on a leash and tests its behavior in front of a person..

Officials tell us the pit bull attacked 12-year-old Kiya West earlier this week. We understand Kiya had a procedure done at Batson Children's Hospital Thursday. News Channel 12 is told she's in good condition.

Commander Odom says Deuce's owner has signed the pit bull over to the city.

Animal control will decide Deuce's fate next Thursday.
