Police continue to search for three men involved at a gas station shoot out. Around 2 a.m. Saturday morning three men pull up and begin shooting at Gas Stop gas station on North State Street. A man and woman were both shot multiple times. Both were taken to University Medical Center. Their injuries were not life-threatening. Police say the car is a blue-purple Oldsmobile or Buick.
"That sort of thing is not acceptable in Ward 2 in the city of Jackson." Priester says he along with the rest of the city council, mayor and police are working closely together to combat this kind of crime in Jackson. "To get more police presence. To make sure police are targeting those areas that need special attention,"are the goals.
Earlier this year Jackson was ranked number eight as one of the nation's most dangerous cities.
"Looking at that video you really have to wonder what was going on and if there's anything that could have specifically been done," says Priester.
Preventing crime is at the top of Councilman Priester's list. He feels confident in the mayor's choice for a new chief of police to crack down on these violent acts.
"New Police Chief Lyndsey Horton has a real strong record of trying to make sure that once we catch people they have a place to be put in prison," says Priester.
Police are still looking for the three men involved in the shoot-out. If you have any information call city Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
