The state Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of a Raymond woman for being drunk when she ran over a tow truck driver in Jackson last year and kept going.
Ivana Merritt was convicted in 2011 of aggravated DUI. She was sentenced to 20 years with five years suspended and five years' supervised probation.
Prosecutors say Robert Bounds was seriously injured when Merritt ran over him in her truck on Sept. 26, 2010, after leaving a nightclub.
She refused to take a breathalyzer test the night of the accident.
Authorities say Bounds was preparing to tow two cars when Merritt collided with several parked cars and then the wrecker before hitting him.
