WJTV News Channel 12 - WJHL features special series, Best of Cable Country

News Channel 11 to feature special Cable Country series

WJHL is honoring long-time employee Tim Cable by airing a special series called the Best of Cable Country

Since 1987, Cable has reported on the people and places of the Tri-Cities. After 25 years, he has decided to step back from the television business.  "I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my career and I'm excited about the next challenge ahead.

"For 23 of my 25 years at WJHL, I was privileged to do a feature segment called Cable Country. It profiled the people and places that make this region such a great place to live. As I weaved my way through the different communities of the Tri-Cities area, I was often told by viewers that I must have the best job in the world and I agreed with them. I truly loved telling their stories."

"People often asked me what my favorite story was that I produced for Cable Country. I have always told them it was the time that I got to fly along in the co-pilot's seat of an F-16 fighter jet with the Air Force Thunderbirds. I always loved doing the stories where I got to fly because I'm such a fan of flight. It was the thrill ride of a lifetime."

In his career as a reporter and anchor, Cable has encountered some interesting people and co-workers that have made a positive influence in his life.

"I can't head out the door without tipping my hat to the late Bob Lewis, who called WJHL home for 40 years of his career. Bob was a mentor but more importantly, he was a friend who shaped my working career. I wouldn't have been the same broadcaster or person without the influence of Bob Lewis."

News Channel 11 Vice President and General Manager Dan Cates said viewers will definitely miss Tim Cable.

"Tim is a tremendous writer and storyteller.  He has a natural ability to help us personally connect with the special people and places in our region.  It's an honor to work with Tim", said Cates.

"Tim is a very important part of the News Channel 11 family.  He will be greatly missed by everyone here. We wish him the best of luck in his new journey", said News Channel 11 News Director Jennifer Dale.

Cable thanks WJHL viewers and co-workers. "No matter what is next in my career, I will always take a portion of WJHL and Cable Country with me. I thank all of the viewers for making me a part of their families and allowing me into their homes for 25 years. I thank my co-workers who have been like family to me."
