SNOW HILL, N.C. -

A man is behind bars in connection with a shooting on Saturday.

Sheriff Lemmie Smith said the shooting happened just before 3 a.m. outside the popular hangout ShowTime on the 4000 block of Appie Road in Walstonburg.

Deputies said after the victim, Cecil Blount, was shot, two people attempted to drive him to the hospital. The driver lost control of the car, hitting a tree at the intersection of School House Road and Mercer Road.

Blount was found with two other men, Brandon Barfield and James Wade. Blount was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies believe he died from his gunshot wounds.

Investigators said Monday they arrested 19-year-old Kwanzi Stephon Ormond in the shooting. He's charged with an Open Count of Murder and in the Greene County Jail under no bond.

There's no word on what prompted the shooting.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck. They say speed was a factor.
