Dr. Cynda Johnson is known for many things, including the success she has helped bring to the Virginia Tech Carilion School of medicine.  She is an amazing physician.  Dr. Johnson is now also a gold medalist after winning two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games for her karate skills.

What most people don't know about Dr. Johnson is the story behind her determination to learn karate later in life.  The journey to her success in karate began three and a half years ago in a mall parking lot in North Carolina.  A man with a gun tried to rob her in the parking lot.  She shares with WSLS 10's Karen McNew the whole story in her own words.
