Police search for man in Roanoke CVS robbery

Posted: Updated:

Roanoke Police are on the search for man who robbed the CVS on Colonial Avenue Southwest in the early morning hours on Thursday.

Police say the man told the cashier he would "go crazy" if the store cashier didn't hand over the money.

Captain Monti Lee said officers responded about 6:13 a.m. after store employees reported the robbery.

Employees told officers that the man came into the store, made a purchase and left, but then soon came back inside. When he came to the register the second time to purchase another item he demanded cash when the employee opened the register.

Lee says the man didn't show a weapon or even say that he had one. He only told the cashier that he would "go crazy" if he didn't get the money.

Lee says the employee made the correct decision in handing over the money.

Lee said the man left on foot toward Colonial Avenue. He is described as a white male in his late teens or twenties. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds. He is clean shaven and wore a blue stocking hat with an emblem, gray hooded sweatshirt with a dark gray hood, black shorts, dark socks and tennis shoes.

Lee says the investigation is ongoing. If you recognize the man in these pictures taken from the stores surveillance camera or have any information call Roanoke police at 853-5959 or Crime Line at 344-8500.
