One man is dead and another recovering from stab wounds after what Yazoo City Police are calling a fight over a woman on Saturday morning.
Police Chief Eric Snows said it happened around 2 a.m. in what neighbors call 'the alley' of Willie Brown Road.
Chief Snow said the investigation is continuing, but the department is piecing together what happened.
Robert Montson is the man who died in the altercation, police said.
Investigators said he kicked-in the door at the home where he found his wife (soon to be ex-wife, police said) with Karlos Harrison.
After a struggle, Montson was killed and Harrison suffered severe stab wounds, Chief White said.
"It's a little after 2 a.m. and I look out my window and I see a lot of flashing lights," next door neighbor Lula Young said.
She said both men seemed on-the-level. She saw Montson around frequently.
"He was a real nice person. I never knew anything bad about Robert," Young said.
A helicopter took Harrison to University Medical Center for treatment of bad cuts all over his body, police said.
Yazoo City Police say he'll be allowed to leave on his own. The investigation is continuing but police are looking at Harrison's actions as self-defense.
News Channel 12 tried to speak with the homeowner about what happened - that person was not home.
Police say the woman involved is shaken but physically fine.
Ricky Shivers from the Yazoo County Coroner's office said Monton's body shows signs of blunt force trauma as well as damage from a stabbing.
