Roanoke man shot overnight

ROANOKE, VA -

A woman is behind bars after an overnight shooting. 

At 3:28 a.m. the Roanoke Police Department responded to a home in the 3400 block of Hillcrest Avenue in reference to a female screaming. 

When officers arrived they discovered Royal Jamal Ali Saunders, 34, of Roanoke, outside with a gunshot wound. 

The victim was transported by Roanoke Fire EMS to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

After further investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for malicious wounding on Brandon Adelle Wright, a female, 31, of Roanoke. Wright was taken into custody and is currently in the Roanoke City Jail. 

His condition is unknown.  There is nothing further to release at this time.
