Patrick Lomantini snips and styles his way into the hearts of animal lovers in the Metro.
"We've had some very generous people out there across the country that has donated a lot of money," recalls Lomantini.
He's touring the country giving haircuts in 50 states in 50 days. While in Mississippi, his goal is to raise a thousand dollars for Cheshire Abby.
"We have no shelter location; we're just a rescue, so we use foster homes," explains Chrissy Cheshire.
She started the non-profit organization a year-and-a-half ago.
"I challenge everyone to go to a shelter to see what it's like because it changed my life," expresses Cheshire.
She has made it her mission to do what she can to help the animals who need it the most.
"The stray population is out of control. We don't have the laws other states have," Cheshire tells News Channel 12.
Cheshire Abby currently has about 25 dogs waiting to be adopted. And, she has had to turn dogs away because she didn't have enough foster homes available.
"It's those people who come forward and help. And, it's just amazing, and I'm so grateful," continues Cheshire.
People showed up at Colorize Hair Studio to help Cheshire Abby make a dent in its vet bills.
"I had no idea there were that many abandoned animals in this city. When I see them hurting and injured, it breaks my heart," adds Jack Weimer.
Lomantini started the 50 States Tour on August 1st in Augusta, Maine. His team will finish his tour on September 19th in Wichita, Kansas.
His goal is to raise 100-thousand dollars for 50 different animal shelters across the country. And, he has already added six cities to next year's tour.
