WJTV News Channel 12 - "The Young And The Restless" to honor "Katherine Chancellor"

"The Young And The Restless" to honor "Katherine Chancellor" with memorial on Sept. 3 and 4

Posted: Updated:

CBS says "The Young And The Restless" will honor the memory of daytime television icon Jeanne Cooper's character, "Katherine Chancellor, in a special two-part memorial service.

The episodes will air Sept. 3 and 4 on WNCT-TV at 12:30 PM.

Cooper's real-life son, actor Corbin Bernsen, returns to the show as Father Todd. He'll preside over the service.

Fan favorites will also return to Genoa City, including Lauralee Bell (Christine), Tricia Cast (Nina Webster), Beau Kazer (Brock Reynolds), Adrienne Frantz (Amber Moore), Patty Weaver (Gina Roma) and Michael Damian (Danny Romalotti). Damian will perform "That's When I'll Stop Loving You," the song that aired in a tribute episode dedicated to Cooper in May.

"It's time for the characters of Genoa City to say their goodbyes to Katherine, and while it's heartbreaking for everyone involved, we hope our viewers will find it a fitting tribute to both an irreplaceable character and the amazing woman who portrayed her," said Y&R Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps. "Katherine had some final surprises up her sleeve that will be revealed at the service and we think everyone will come away with smiles on their faces."

Aditionally, fans can see the postcards that Genoa City residents recently received to alert them of Katherine's death as well as her obituary, at http://www.cbs.com/shows/the_young_and_the_restless/katherine-chancellor/. The site will have the final, moving scene from Tuesday's episode of Y&R.

The Young And The Restless has been the #1-rated daytime drama for more than 24 years.  It's produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
