SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A former Tri-Cities teacher will spend the next eight years behind bars for an internet sex crime involving children.

Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney Julie Canter says Randall McCoy pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

As a result, Canter says a Sullivan County judge sentenced McCoy to eight years in prison without the possibility of parole.

Kingsport police arrested the former Vance Middle School band director nearly three years ago after they said they found hundreds of pictures of boys under the age of 18 on McCoy's home computer.
