A Jacksonville Marine is on a special mission to get controversial pop singer Miley Cyrus to go with the sergeant to her final Marine Corps ball.

The Marine says she thinks Cyrus is "awesome despite what anyone else says," and that the pop singer has her love.

The Marine Corps Ball on November 7th. Owings will be discharged on November 15th so this is going to be her last ball. She has been in the marines for the past seven years.
