Things are looking up for Salem Red Sox

Posted: Updated:

A few months ago, it seemed the Salem Red Sox couldn't get a break. Eight games were rained out and attendance was low.

But now, the team is in the playoffs at 13-2 before Wednesday's night game; the weather is finally on the Red Sox's side and that means attendance is finally picking up.

5,600 fans were at the August 30th game. The team hopes growing attendance numbers will continue throughout the playoff's and into the next season with the help of some changes new General Manager Ryan Shelton wants to make.

"The thing we really want to focus on is improving the in-game experience. Things like fireworks set to the music of Star Wars, different games between innings and keeping fans involved," Shelton said.

The Salem Red Sox are even asking the public for feedback. You can tell the Red Sox what you'd like to see, just send them an e-mail at feedback@salemredsox.com

The team will play in its first playoff game since 2009 against the Carolina League on Wednesday at 7:05 P.M.
