Layoffs, No Raises For Clinton Employees

Posted: Updated:
Clinton - The city of Clinton, faced with a year-end deficit and more than $400,000 in leftover expenses from 2013, is cutting its fiscal 2014 budget by more than $1.1 million.

The Clarion-Ledger reports that the city will be laying off at least eight employees and giving no raises.

Mayor Phil Fisher says the steps will give revenues a chance to catch up with expenses and put the city on track to build a surplus.
