Hokies Prepare to Be Tested By East Carolina Offense

Posted: Updated:

If Alabama and Western Carolina represented Yin and the Yang of Virginia Tech's college football schedule this year--then the majority of the challenges to come will fall somewhere in the middle.  For the Hokies it's about improvement before the ACC schedule begins. Coach Beamer says he wants his team to take another step--and be ready when the Georgia Tech game opens conference action.

The Pirates sport quarterback Shane Cardin, who has completed nearly 80 percent of his passes for 7 touchdowns and no interceptions so far this season. The Pirates are 2-0 on the year and have scored a combined 83 points in those two wins. The Hokies defense, including Jack Tyler, is looking forward to the challenge that this type of offense presents.

Overall East Carolina returns 16 starters and will be playing at home..where they are especially good. They have won eight of their last nine home games. The Hokies are scheduled to kick off against the Pirates Saturday at noon from Greenville, North Carolina.
