JACKSON- The Majors grounded out 400 yards of offense over 40 minutes of possession en route to a 28-24 win over the LaGrange Panthers on Saturday.

The defense made the most of its brief time on the field, registering six sacks and forcing six fumbles (recovering three). Jeff Milner had 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles while Zach Bell added two more sacks of his own and led the Majors with eight tackles.

LaGrange scored first, recovering a fumble in the end zone to go up 7-0. The Majors responded with 14 unanswered with Zander Romano registering a touchdown reception and Beau Wells hauling in a seam route for a 38-yard score.

Trevor King would add a late second quarter touchdown as the Majors took a 21-7 lead into the break. Millsaps limited the Panthers to 34 yards rushing in the first half and 59 for the game.

LaGrange would not score quietly, again opening the scoring with a touchdown pass early in the third quarter. Mike Barthelemy would punch in a five-yard run to stretch the lead to 28-14 in the early stages of the fourth quarter. The junior running back had 138 yards rushing, including a 68-yard gallop in the first half.

Things would get crazy after the Panthers cut the lead to 28-24 with 10 unanswered. Zak Thrasher threw his second of two interceptions with just over 90 seconds left. The ensuing play, the Panthers fumbled the ball after Eric Martin ripped the ball out at the Majors 20-yard line, Dustin Harscher picked it up and the Majors got the win.

The Majors moved to 2-0 with the win, dropping LaGrange to 0-2. Millsaps welcomes in NAIA's Point University next weekend for a 1pm kick off.
