BLOUNTVILLE, TN (WJHL) -

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office needs help finding two men who stole more than $1,000 worth of tools from a home under construction last April.

Surveillance video caught the men arriving in a pick-up truck, carrying tools out of the house on Hamilton Hill Road, then driving off in the truck.

"You can see on the video, the suspect take what appears to be bolt cutters to gain entry inside the home," said Leslie Earhart, SCSO spokesperson.  "From there he proceeds to take a couple of air compressors as well as a table saw even a drill."

Earhart asked for anyone with information to contact investigators at 423.279.7500  extension 249.  Tips can remain anonymous.

And she urged everyone to keep good records of their tools, mowers, and other outdoor equipment in case they become a victim.

"In any case that you have tools that are valuable, don't forget to write down the serial number because that will help us track them more easily," said Earhart.  "The serial number can be entered into NCIC and then if someone sells your tools, we'll get a hit on them and it will help us recover the tools."

According to the Federal Trade Commission, "Scammers use cameras, keypad overlays, and skimming devices - like a realistic-looking card reader placed over the factory-installed card reader on an ATM or gas pump - to capture the information from your card's magnetic strip without your knowledge and get your PIN."
