Jackson Man's Murder Trial Starts Today

Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith today announced six guilty verdicts in the double Capital Murder trial of Travaris Rasharad Christian, 215 Windsor Dr. in Jackson.

Christian, age 23, was convicted by a Hinds County jury in the murders of Robert Lewis Carter and his fiancé, Renita Lee Mark. Christian was also found guilty of House Burglary, Conspiracy, Convicted Felon with a Gun, and Felony Child Neglect for leaving the victims’ 7-month-old baby boy unattended at the crime scene, the murdered couple’s Terry home.

Jackson resident Travaris Christian, 23, AKA Bark, is accused of killing Robert Lewis Carter and Renita Lee Mark of Terry on January 24, 2011.

His co-defendant, Dwaliue Deon Carter, Robert Lewis Carter’s brother, was found guilty August 15, 2013 of Capital Murder in this crime.

Christian is charged with 2 counts of Murder, 1 count of Burglary, 1 count of Conspiracy, 1 count of Felony Child Abuse, and 1 count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

DA Smith says that Christian's trial is set to get underway today.
