Candidate Wants New Election

Posted: Updated:
HINDS COUNTY - JACKSON -

A Hinds County Board of Supervisor District Two candidate files a motion today asking a judge to not certify this week's special election results.

David Archie came in third place with about 12-percent of the votes (653 votes).  If the results are certified, Darrel McQuirter (1,697 votes) will face Willie Earl Robinson (1,038) in the October 8th run-off election.

"We have a list of 14 things we filed our lawsuit on.  So, you can pick any of the 14 to overturn this election and have us a brand new election,” explains Archie.

Archie says this past Tuesday’s special election had too many errors.  Some of his claims include people being turned away because some polling precincts ran out of ballots; some ballots were lost for hours; and there were no sheriff's deputies escorting some of the ballot bags.
