Dennery Becomes Head Of Miss. Prison Industries

Posted: Updated:
Jackson - John Dennery, the former longtime head of Dennery's Restaurant, is taking over as chief executive officer of Mississippi Prison Industries Corp.
Former CEO John H. Miller retired after 16 years, reports The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/15FqG9T).
Dennery, a lobbyist, ran his family's Jackson restaurant for 30 years. During that time he worked with the Mississippi Department of Corrections' Restitution Center in offering employment opportunities to offenders prior to their release.
He ran unsuccessfully for the Hinds County Board of Supervisors as a Republican in 2011.
Mississippi Prison Industries provides work experience and employment skills to adult offenders in the state's correctional facilities with the goal of economic self-sufficiency when they're released and a reduction in recidivism and overall costs to government operations.
