Dish Network Dispute: What you need to know

Posted: Updated:

Beginning at midnight viewers who normally watch WSLS on Dish Network will no longer be able to do so.

This is because of an impasse between WSLS' parent company Media General and Dish over the amount of compensation Dish must pay to redistribute Channel 10's signal.

John Carlin sat down with WSLS Vice-President and General Manager, Leesa Wilcher, to discuss the situation.

"Media General has never gone dark," Wilcher said. "There's never been a disruption of service for any Media General property and they have done hundreds of negotiations. So never a disruption. Dish, on the other hand, has had about 29 over the past three years."

"Unfortunately our Dish viewers are not going to be able to see WSLS on Dish any longer. That's unfortunate, but that's what will happen. For how long? That is the unknown at the moment," Wilcher said.

The negotiations between Media General and Dish are ongoing.
