Hokies Welcome a Disappointing 1-3 Tar Heel Squad to Blacksburg

Posted: Updated:

It's still early in the 2013 season, but Virginia Tech's football program looks like it's back on the title rails after a one year track change to 'middle of the road-ville.'  A seven-point road win over previously undefeated Georgia Tech has the Hokies atop the Coastal Division of the ACC, ...and for the time being at least--on schedule for a return trip to Charlotte. Senior Andrew Miller was careful not to categorize the Hokies as "back", saying this is a new team with a new offense.

A three-game homestand is next for Virginia Tech including this Saturday's date with the Tar Heels.  North Carolina's season to date has been a huge disappointment--after they sift through the wreckage of a 55-31 loss to East Carolina. At 1-3..the 'Heels look like a shell of the team that dismantled Virginia Tech in Chapel Hill a year ago. Coach Beamer says he understands how teams can be up and down from week to week and reminded everyone you need to only look back to last year's 48-34 North Carolina win. That result still serves as fair warning. Freshman cornerback Brandon Facyson explained that you can't get into the habit of looking at teams that have already lost to someone you have defeated--and thinking it will be an easy victory. He says thinking that way will get you beat.@
