The Rankin county school district is fighting a subpoena from state auditor Stacy Pickering.
The legal challenge is related to an investigation of a Rankin county school employee.
The auditor's office got a judge to issue the subpoena in August after school leaders refused to turn over documents related to a female employee who works in the central office.
The auditor is investigating whether the woman got paid for work she never did.
We've learned the woman's office computer has been locked by state investigators.
The woman is said to be related to board attorney Freddie Harrell.
Last night during a special board meeting school board president Cecil McCrory says he learned for the first time that the district had hired an attorney to from a top Jackson law firm to fight the auditor's request for information.
A Rankin county judge will hold a hearing Monday morning where he could decide whether to force the school district to comply with the auditor’s subpoena.
