Meet Susan Bennett, the voice of Siri

Posted: Updated:
A voice actress from Atlanta suburb says she is the iPhone's virtual assistant  Siri, CNN reported. Apple didn't confirm, but audio-forensics experts and her colleagues did.

Her name is Susan Bennett. She started her career in the late 70s and is now the voice of many GPS systems, Delta airport terminals, phone systems, and 'Tillie the All-Time Teller', according to CNN. She works for GM Voice in Atlanta, the company specializing in providing voice to technology.
The Siri project was recorded in 2005, and Bennett had no idea it would be used on a smartphone, according to CNN. The four-hour recording sessions would tire and bore her and she would take breaks.

"That's one of the reasons why Siri might sometimes sound like she has a bit of an attitude," Bennett said with a laugh. "Those sounds might have been recorded the last 15 minutes of those four hours."

She was surprised to hear the voice when Siri was introduced in 2011.

"Oh, I knew," she said in an interview with CNN. "It's obviously me. It's my voice."

She is not bound by nondisclosure agreements of any kind that's why she could identify herself.

"...it seemed like everyone was clamoring to find out who the real voice behind Siri is, and so I thought, well, you know, what the heck? This is the time," she told CNN.
