Karen is disorganized.
Top wind speed is holding at 50mph.
The Hurricane Watch for the MS coastline has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm Watch.
Karen is moving NNW at 7mph and will soon take a turn to the north and then northeast over the weekend. The system continues to pull in drier air from the north and wind shear coming in from the west at the upper levels is preventing Karen from strengthening for now. Top winds may still increase to around 60mph before landfall, but that would still make her a tropical storm. Significant strengthening is not expected.
We will have the latest from the coast coming up on WJTV News Channel 12 at 5 and 6.
