JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -

Mississippi State Fair Officials report a child was injured on Friday night after falling from the ski-lift-type attraction known as the "Skyride".

It happened around 11 p.m. The male child was not conscious when brought to University Medical Center, according to a press release.

There has been not update to the child's condition.

State Fair Officials call the incident "unprecedented". The Skyride has not had any previous accidents, officials said.

Fair officials closed the ride immediately after the accident and re-inspected it on Saturday morning, officials said.

The equipment looked to be in working order - the result of the inspection showed that all safety lap bars on all cars were working properly, according to a press release from State Fair Officials.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the child and the family. We will report additional information when it becomes available," was a statement given by a press release.
