For 30 years Lambert Lane has served the town of Terry as their pharmacist at Terry Drugs. On August 7th, Lane says two men with a gun demanded all the cash in the store and specific prescription drugs including Oxycontin and Zanax.
We’re told the men also stole the surveillance video and tied Lane up. Two months later, Lane says no arrests have been made. "I have never even heard back by the Hinds County Sheriff's Department, so I know nothing about what they've done. It makes me feel like I guess they don't have any leads and they aren't looking very hard,” says Lane.
But that's not the reason he's closing up shop at Terry Drugs. He's now the pharmacist at Fred’s.
"I had the deal with them just a few days prior to the robbery.” Lane says the robbery did assure him he's making the right move. "Makes me think i made the right decision, I'm in a lot safer environment here with more people of course around,” says Lane.
Even though he's only moving up the road, customers rushed to Terry Drugs for its last day.
"It is like a death to me, because you just don't find little bitty drugstores,” says Sandra Carmack-Price. She has shopped at Terry Drugs for almost 30 years. The doors are open one last time and everything must go. But for her, this town staple was like home and its owner , Lambert Lane, was like family. "He's awesome, there's nobody like lambert lane, he's awesome,” says Carmack-Price.
"They love him and he loves them,” says Diana Stewart who’s been a Terry resident for 13 years.
